This committee’s responsibilities include the design and maintenance of the organization’s web site, the maintenance of the SAEE listserv, and the communications to membership outside of meeting minutes handled by the secretary. This committee will also seek new and innovative uses of technology to better the Association. This committee may assign a co-chair (not to serve on the board) to work to assist with projects.

The Membership Committee

The duties of this committee shall be: to enlist new members; to carry out the policy and procedural mechanics of membership application and approval as directed by the chair and to prepare, maintain, and distribute a directory of membership.

The Nominating Committee

This committee is responsible for drafting the slate of officers and directors to be presented in nomination to the Executive Committee. They also secure permission of each nominee before placing his/her name in nomination. This committee will count and record votes cast for board offices. Aggressive efforts should be made to have a diversified board by state, gender, ethnicity, and institutional affiliation.

The Auditing Committee

as appointed by the President, shall consist of three members whose responsibility will be to inspect and approve the conditions of the Association's financial books and to recommend any procedural changes. The committee shall make an audit at the end of the fiscal year. This is typically chaired by the treasurer.

The Archives and Awards Committee

is chaired by one of the directors. The main duties include: collecting and maintaining the archives and historical records of the association and providing appropriate recognition to deserving recipients.

The Legislative Committee

i is co-chaired by the Immediate Past-President and the President-Elect. They review the constitution for the purpose of revision, and review legislation on the national level relative to members' needs and report findings to the President and board.

The Research/Scholarship Committee

is chaired by a director. The responsibilities of this committee are to conduct research on behalf of the organization; to promote research on topics relevant to the organization and to select research projects relevant to the organization for grant funding. Something new to this committee in 2002 is the set-up of a scholarship program.

The Time and Place Committee

is chaired by a member of the Executive Committee, typically the president-elect. This committee’s main purpose is to investigate alternate times and locations for future conferences. They also make time and place recommendations to the Executive Committee and make recommendations two years in advance. The treasurer must sign off on any contract negotiation with a hotel on behalf of SAEE.

The New Member Development Committee

is chaired by a Director. This committee will work very closely with the Treasurer who oversees membership. This chair will organize the New Member Orientation at the annual conference. This committee will also develop a mentoring type program for new members to connect to current members to create professional relationships. The New Member Development Committee will look into different mentoring training ideas for current members and programs to bring to the Association’s annual conference. This committee will also bring ideas to the Association of how we can retain new members and create professional relationships that last over the years.
